End of The Season For The Boy’s Varsity Soccer Team 2022


MLA’s Boys Varsity Soccer is in the premier division league ranking #143 in Illinois and also ranked #116 in Chicago. The number #1 in Illinois soccer team for the year 2022 went to Naperville Central. The season started on August 8 and ended on October 25, 2022. MLA played a total of 25 games and of those 25 games, their record was 16 W-7L-2D.

The MLA’s Boys Varsity Soccer team ended the season by reaching the CPS finals against Schurz High School winning the game by a total of 4-1. They won the finals and won the Windy City cup that was hosted by the Chicago Public League. 

Senior night was definitely something really special I’ll remember

Winning the Windy City Cup was not easy. The game started at 7:00 P.M everyone was changing and getting warmed up, while it was pouring rain. Besides winning the Windy City Cup senior night was a memorable moment to the season, “Senior night was definitely something really special I’ll remember” Says Captain/Left back, Eduardo Gorostieta.  

After taking the Windy City Cup, unfortunately, MLA did not win the regional final.  The Rauner (Chicago, IL) varsity soccer team won Friday’s 10/14 home playoff game against Marine Leadership Academy (Chicago, IL) by a score of 1-0.Game Details: IHSA Regional Final @ MLA

We had more of a bench than last year. More skill, we all participate as a team

Losing the state final gave the team a boost in confidence heading toward the Windy City Tournament and winning the Windy City Cup. The team’s Captain/Goalkeeper, Joel Gutierrez, stated that “We had more of a bench than last year. More skill, we all participate as a team” This concludes the Boy’s varsity soccer season.
