Girls Basketball Feature Athlete: Tania Calvillo
Girls Basketball Players : Tania Calvillo
Tania Calvillo is a 17 year-old who has been playing basketball for four years. Practicing 4-5 times a week for two hours everyday with a captain that brings the team together and pushes them to do their best. In every practice she always has fun and gives her all to improve. She would like to try other sports like volleyball and track and field; however, basketball is her favorite sport.
Since she was in elementary school, she knew that she liked playing basketball because of her height which she knew would help her. She likes being competitive, winning, and establishing a connection and a friendship with her teammates.
Tania’s motivations are the people who always doubt her: this pushes her to give her all just to prove them wrong. Basketball has helped her grow as a person, to be less shy, and to stand up for herself and protect her image from anyone who is trying to put her down.
Every game that she has, she goes with all the motivation to win. If the team does win the game, she feels on top of the world, unstoppable; however, when they lose she does feel upset, but at the end of the day she always tries to bring the positive out of it, being able to play her best and enjoy the match.
